Dana Bash of CNN reacts to JD Vance interview: "It is dangerous"
During an interview with CNN's Dana Bash and JD Vance, there was a disagreement about Trump's migrants debate claim.
On Monday, Dana Bash of CNN responded to her contentious interview with JD Vance, during which the Ohio senator accused her of being soft on Vice President Kamala Harris regarding Haitian migrants.
When I said, "What, you created a story?" after hearing him say, "If we have to create stories and that’s what we’ll do," there was a moment of silence before he realized what he said and moved on to pursue me again.
On Sunday, Bash and Vance engaged in a heated argument about the claim made by former President Trump regarding Haitian migrants in Ohio during the ABC News debate.
Vance stated during a Sunday interview that the American media ignored important issues until Donald Trump and he started discussing cat memes. If necessary, he would create stories to make the media pay attention to the struggles of the American people, as he believed they were letting Kamala Harris off the hook.
Vance replied, "By doing so, we're shaping the American media's focus on it."
During the discussion on Monday, Bash stated that Vance objected to my quoting the mayor of Springfield, who urged federal officials to cease repeating inflammatory statements about migrants because it was endangering the community.
Bash accused Vance of inciting violence, to which Vance responded by accusing Bash of telling him that he was doing so.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of Haitians have migrated to Springfield, resulting in an increase in crime, mayhem, and car accidents, according to reports. In a town of 58,000 people, approximately 20,000 Haitians have arrived, as reported by The New York Times in early September, based on an estimate from city officials.
In Springfield, employers are thankful for the presence of Haitian migrants as they help revive the economy, which was severely impacted in the 70s and 80s. However, there are legitimate concerns about integrating these workers into society, including issues related to schools, language, and driver's tests. It is important to address these concerns without resorting to racist stereotypes, such as eating dogs and cats.
Alex Thompson, an Axios reporter, proposed that Trump and Vance managed to divert the discussion from the debate, which was generally viewed as a defeat for the former president.
Thompson stated that for the past five days, the conversation has revolved around Springfield, Ohio, rather than the debate performance where Kamala outperformed Biden.
Recent reports indicate that Springfield has experienced several bomb threats, resulting in school closures and evacuations.
Bash stated that colleges, schools, and hospitals have been facing threats, including bomb threats, and it is dangerous, with no other way to describe it.
