CNN commentator criticizes Kamala Harris for attempting to erase her past as border czar.
Scott Jennings stated that Democrats have no possibility of prevailing in the immigration debate.
On Tuesday, CNN political commentator Scott Jennings criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for attempting to "eliminate all traces" of her past as a "border czar" and for being inconsistent on crucial matters.
On "CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip," Alyssa Farah Griffin, the former Trump White House communications director, proposed that Democrats could use the immigration issue to turn the tables on Republicans.
When Harris claimed that Democrats wanted more Customs and Border Patrol Officers and were set to fight the fentanyl epidemic before Republicans vetoed the "most conservative border bill in decades," she said it was "actually true."
Griffin's statement that Democrats would fight for a draw on immigration against former President Trump was met with a response from Jennings, who stated that there is no way Democrats could believe they would succeed in such an effort.
He stated that he hoped they would show all their immigration ads to remind Americans of the failure of the entire process every time they turn on their TVs.
"If they were so proud of their record, why is [Harris] working so hard to erase all evidence from the internet that she was the border czar?" he added.
Did Nina Turner express disappointment that Kamala Harris is now attempting to distance herself from the issues she campaigned on in 2019?
"She has an opportunity in the first chair," Turner replied. "Scott, I’m looking at this as an opportunity to hear that she may walk away from supporting Medicare for all—that does not float my boat. However, she’s going to have an opportunity as the first chair to really decide."
Since launching her new presidential bid, Harris has been distancing herself from her previous far-left positions.
The Harris campaign has reversed its stance on fracking, stating that she will not seek to ban it if elected president. This is particularly important to the economy in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state during the 2024 race. An official with Harris’ re-election campaign told The Hill about the change in position.
Harris campaign officials informed the Times that she now supports the Biden administration's budget requests for increased funding for border enforcement, no longer opposes a single-payer health insurance program, and agrees with Biden's call to ban assault weapons. However, she is now against any requirement for private gun owners to sell those weapons to the federal government.
