Chuck Todd believes that Biden would not have been able to handle the debate as effectively as Kamala Harris did.
Todd pointed out the specific instance that encapsulated why Joe Biden was unable to defeat Donald Trump and why Kamala Harris could succeed.
On Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris was praised by NBC’s Chuck Todd for her impressive performance in the presidential debate against former President Trump. Todd argued that Harris outshone her predecessor, President Biden, during the debate.
"Todd stated on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports" that he finds it intriguing how the Harris campaign has chosen to take on Trump, diminish him, and make him seem small. He noted that Trump is not the menacing figure that Joe Biden or, to a lesser extent, Hillary Clinton portrayed him as. Todd added that this approach is similar to how Barack Obama dealt with Trump, although Obama never faced him in a campaign. He explained that Obama's approach involved belittling Trump, just as the Harris campaign is doing now. Todd used the example of Gary Busey to illustrate this point."
"Todd stated, "This stuff gets under his skin, and he can't handle it. I mean, this is why I wouldn't put him up against her again in the LaCivita/Wiles shoes. The abortion contrast alone is the most important thing about this debate.""
"He disagreed with J.D. Vance," host Andrea Mitchell said.
"The most crucial aspect of this discussion is the unforced error that Todd made in his response. He stated that Joe Biden could never have accomplished what Kamala Harris did, and that's why he lost the election. Todd pointed out that Kamala Harris's statement about humanizing the issue of abortion was something that Joe Biden couldn't bring himself to say, and she referred to Trump's abortion bans as such."
Todd also underlined how Harris outperformed Biden on the debate stage.
"The political analyst stated that among all the back-and-forth, the most substantive was the discussion on reproductive rights. This reminded them of why many Democrats were convinced Biden lacked the necessary skills to win the campaign. They pointed out that Biden was uncomfortable discussing reproductive rights and shared an anecdote where he never would have been able to share the same story."
Criticism has been directed at ABC for its handling of the debate, specifically regarding Linsey Davis' contentious "fact-check" on Trump's stance on abortion.
Trump mentioned Northam's remarks on third-trimester abortions.
Northam stated that the infant would be delivered comfortably and resuscitated if desired by the mother and family, and then a discussion would occur between the physicians and the mother.
