Cali leaders criticized by Mel Gibson for poor wildfire response: 'Something they have to live with'
The Palisades fire destroyed the Malibu home of the Academy Award-winning director.
This week, during the deadly wildfires, Hollywood celebrities, including actor Mel Gibson, criticized the Golden State's leadership.
The backlash from celebrities towards California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles County officials for their inadequate preparation and response to the wildfires in the area has intensified since the fires began on Tuesday.
At least 10 people have perished and over 10,000 homes and businesses have been ruined due to the wildfires.
"Gibson stated on "The Ingraham Angle" on Friday that one often believes that the men and women's resources and capabilities will be ready to handle any situation that arises, but unfortunately, it seems that some individuals, particularly the leaders, were not fully alert during their duties."
"Although it's unfortunate, the community must endure this issue."
Many residents, including Gibson, lost their homes to the devastating wildfires.
It's heartbreaking," he said to Laura Ingraham on Planet Chronicle, "and it leaves you feeling deeply saddened.
"Regardless of the circumstances, I always count my blessings," Gibson stated. "They may or may not be replaceable, but they're just things, and we're still here."
The months leading up to the disaster saw criticism directed at Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass over their management of fire department funding and water supply in Southern California.
Gibson advised Newsom to reduce his spending on hair gel, stating that he is not a fan of either leader's leadership style.
"The problems in California are perplexing, and events like this make one wonder if they are intentional. It's an insane thought, but it makes you question whether there is a purpose behind it all."
