Black Chicago voters indicate a shift towards Republicans before the DNC: "It's better for our country."
Lawrence Jones was informed by Black voters that their primary concerns are crime and inflation.
In the upcoming 2024 U.S. presidential election, crime and the economy are the top concerns for Black voters in Chicago, according to their revelations.
Lawrence Jones of "Fox & Friends" conversed with churchgoers in Chicago prior to the 4-day Democratic National Convention and inquired about their voting preferences for this election.
Jones was informed by Corey Brooks, the senior pastor at the Beginnings Church of Chicago, that the start of the DNC in his city was a "bittersweet moment."
He expressed his gratitude for Chicago hosting a major convention but lamented that he does not support the principles and policies used by the community.
Brooks advised voters to steer clear of "identity politics" and emphasized that voting for a candidate based solely on their race and gender is counterproductive.
Several Black voters who spoke to "Fox & Friends" identified gun violence in Chicago and inflation as their top priorities before heading to the polls.
"One female Black voter stated that the economy is uncertain, as she pointed out, "The cost of small items like eggs and bread has significantly increased at the grocery store.""
His congregation and the larger community have moved away from the policies promoted by the Democratic Party, according to Brooks.
One voter stated that they believe conservative principles are more advantageous for our country and our people.
He also claimed that the Republican Party is pro-education, pro-family and pro-business.
"Let's mix things up a bit," the man stated.
Some voters supported Vice President Kamala Harris, while others were undecided and criticized both political parties.
A female voter stated, "I want to learn more about [Harris]'s plans because being Black and a woman are different, but we've been disappointed by both groups. Therefore, I believe the most important aspect is your platform."
An estimated 50,000 individuals, including delegates, activists, and journalists, are anticipated to attend the DNC in Chicago this week.
It is expected that Harris will formally accept her presidential nomination from the Democrats at the convention.
