Bill Maher argues that Trump's victory demonstrates that the US is not as "divided" and "racially tribal" as the media portrays.
Stephen A. Smith said on his 'Club Random' podcast that Trump is an unusual individual to unite diverse groups of people.
Bill Maher, a liberal comedian, believes that the "silver lining" of President-elect Donald Trump's election victory is that the country is not as "divided" as the legacy media portrays it.
On Sunday's episode of his "Club Random" podcast, Maher and guest Stephen A. Smith criticized the Democratic Party for being "influenced by identity politics."
Smith criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for not addressing the concerns of Latino voters regarding the southern border closure.
Smith exclaimed, "You were a district attorney, state attorney general, and senator representing California, yet you were unaware that the Latinos would say 'Yo, we don't like open borders.'"
"Maher later told Smith that the election results showed that the country is less racially divided than previously thought. Despite Trump's unusual ability to unite diverse groups, he won over Latino men."
"Smith interjected, "They claimed it was a 13% increase, with a 5% increase in the Black vote and even more among Black men. That's what they stated.""
"Yes," Maher concurred. "We're not as divided as the media portrays us to be."
"Smith stated that the United States is more of a centrist nation, with the fringes on the MAGA right and extreme left being the outliers. Most Americans fall under the center-left or center-right categories."
"Most Americans are not crazy, and Democrats campaign as if voters don't exist in the real world. They don't go to Starbucks, the office, or the store, and they don't see women and people of color. As a result, their campaigns don't look like a racist patriarchy-patriarchal nightmare. If that's what the Democrats are selling, it's not working."
"The Democrats have gotten on my last damn nerve," Smith knocked. "They don't know what the hell they're selling."
"Me, too," Maher agreed.
"Smith stated that if it weren't for Trump, he would have voted Republican because he is tired of the party's focus on attacking the opposition rather than presenting their own ideas."
"And they're snobby," Maher added.
"Smith nodded, agreeing that the elite-focused group is snobby and accuses the Republicans of catering to the working class."
