Biden's Pardon Criticized by Former Gov. Cuomo: 'People are Tired of Hypocrisy'
The Democratic Party and Biden were criticized by the former New York governor for not meeting the needs of Americans.
Andrew Cuomo, the former governor of New York, criticized President Biden for breaking his promise to pardon his son.
Any crimes committed by Hunter Biden between January 2014 and December 2024 are covered by his sweeping pardon. This came as he was facing potential jail sentences for firearms and tax charges, and after the president and his allies had repeatedly stated that he would not receive a pardon.
Cuomo expressed his disappointment on WABC radio Monday, stating that while he comprehended the distinction they were attempting to convey, he still found it sad. He considered it hypocritical that the individual had stated they wouldn't do it and then proceeded to do it.
"He stated, "While everyone comprehends the importance of putting family first and being willing to sacrifice anything for one's children, what they don't grasp is the act of changing one's mind and saying one thing but doing the opposite.""
Cuomo added, 'And also the justification for it. "Look, the justice system is political." It’s your justice system, President Biden! What a damning commentary to say, "The federal justice system was political, and that’s why they prosecuted my son." To say your justice system was playing politics after we just went through a campaign where we saw Donald Trump saying the same thing.'
Biden's statements appeared to support President-elect Trump's claim that the numerous trials and accusations against him were politically motivated, as many prosecutors openly campaigned against him.
The president's statements have made it clear that what happened was politics. Prosecutors in New York campaigned on getting Trump and then targeted him after being elected. This was politics, and it was one of the main drivers in the election. Cuomo believes this and has said it before, and the American people agree. The issues of migrants, inflation, and system distrust also played a role.
He characterized the situation as "terrifying" and "pure politics," while implying it was among the factors contributing to people's dissatisfaction with Democrats during the election.
Cuomo stated, "Shame on the Democratic Party if they don't reflect on their actions."
The Democratic Party has become too focused on catering to elitists and extremists, disregarding the needs of working men and women.
Cuomo emphasized that the justice system has become too large and needs to be understood as a political tool. He urged for it to stop.
A growing number of Democratic politicians have condemned President Biden since he announced on Sunday that he would pardon his son, despite previously stating that he wouldn't. Some media commentators have defended the decision, but many others have criticized it.
