'Biden's Hunter pardon criticized by Obama supporters as 'stupid' and 'typical of a lying politician'.'
Jon Favreau, a 'Pod Save America' co-host, admitted that he felt like a "f---ing fool" after believing someone and now regrets it, which makes him angry about the situation.
Three ex-Obama advisors criticized Biden for "deceiving" and making his supporters "appear like they're bullshitting" by granting a pardon to his son Hunter, despite earlier promises not to do so.
On Tuesday, Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor, commonly known as the "Obama bros," discussed the implications of Biden's pardon of his son on their "Pod Save America" podcast.
Biden's decision to renege on his pledge not to pardon his son has left Vietor feeling frustrated, despite understanding it on a "human level."
"Joe Biden's actions have led to a cynical feeling that all politicians are bad, and this is just par for the course. Republicans will use this to argue that Democrats warned of Trump's corruption or threat to the rule or democracy, but it was just politics as usual. Vietor is frustrated with this, as he believes that politicians should be held accountable for their actions and not be seen as typical, lying politicians."
Biden's actions had harmed both his own and the Democratic Party's reputation, according to Vietor.
Jon Favreau, a fellow co-host, expressed his frustration that Biden decided to pardon his son rather than a group of individuals who were simply carrying out their duties as government officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Favreau now feels like a "fool" after believing Biden when he stated he wouldn't pardon his son.
He confessed that he felt like a fool after I believed him, which made him angry.
After the first son was convicted in two separate federal cases earlier this year, the president received a pardon.
In September, the younger Biden pleaded guilty to federal tax charges, and in June, he was convicted of three felony gun charges after lying on a mandatory gun purchase form, claiming he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs.
The pardon absolves Hunter Biden of his impending sentencing in two cases, but also shields him from any future charges he may have committed between January 1, 2014 and December 1, 2024.
Biden's decision to issue a sweeping pardon could be used by Republicans to claim that he was trying to protect himself from accusations of profiting from his son's business dealings while he was vice president.
Conservatives will argue that Joe Biden is only protecting himself, Lovett noted.
Despite no evidence of profit, the former Obama aides acknowledged that the appearance of Biden profiting was damaging to the Democratic Party's reputation.
Lovett argued that Biden should have framed the pardon as a proactive measure to address concerns that President-elect Trump would target his political enemies.
