Beyoncé's performance at Kamala Harris rally was a 'bait and switch,' say media outlets.
NPR, MSNBC, and USA Today all speculated that the pop star would perform in Houston.
Last week, several media outlets faced criticism for incorrectly reporting that Beyoncé would perform at Vice President Kamala Harris' rally in Houston, Texas.
The singer, born in Houston, introduced Vice President Harris at an event that emphasized reproductive rights.
Prior to the event, USA Today published a headline, "Beyoncé to perform at Kamala Harris rally in Houston." However, the article did not include a video livestream, and the singer's performance did not occur.
NPR also reported a similar claim about the coalition of Beyoncé fans and Harris supporters.
"Houston rally for Harris to feature Beyoncé performance," the headline read.
Beyoncé was predicted to perform "Freedom" at the event, according to a source outside the Harris campaign, as reported by Vanity Fair.
Vanity Fair asked if the Grammy Award winner, whose "Freedom" track is a personal theme song for the candidate, would be at the Friday rally. The Harris campaign spokesperson only said "We can't confirm." They did not issue a denial.
MSNBC commentators praised the pop star's performance at the rally, frequently referencing an NBC News report that cited insiders.
According to three sources, including one with direct knowledge, Beyoncé will perform at the Friday rally in her hometown and will also sing "Texas Hold' Em".
Trump adviser Murtaugh pointed out the falsehoods in a tweet on October 26, stating that MSNBC had incorrectly reported Beyoncé's performance as breaking news.
"They lied to assemble a crowd," he stated at that time.
One X user joked, "You all thought you were going to catch a free Beyoncé concert."
Beyoncé supporters were "confused" at the Harris rally and her campaign had employed "Bait and switch crowd building."
The former President Trump echoed critics who accused Harris and the media of deceiving attendees about the pop star's performance.
""Beyoncé spoke for a few minutes and then left, and the place went wild. They booed everyone, thinking she was going to perform. However, it was my opponent who got up and was booed. It's crazy how they use people to get people to come, and then send buses. We don't do that. Everyone comes to us. We're just going to make America great again," Trump said to a crowd in Michigan."
Planet Chronicle Digital did not receive a comment from the Harris campaign.
Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment from NPR, MSNBC, NBC News, USA Today, and Vanity Fair was not immediately responded to.
Planet Chronicle' Andrew Mark Miller contributed to this report.
