Karine Jean-Pierre's time as White House press secretary was marked by a series of embarrassing and controversial moments.

In May 2022, Jean-Pierre succeeded Jen Psaki as press secretary, becoming the first openly gay, Black woman to hold the position. Despite being hailed as a historical figure, her tenure was marked by conflicts with reporters, retracting statements, and avoiding tough questions.

On Wednesday, she gave her final press briefing after over 300.

Some of the most memorable moments of Jean-Pierre's tenure as press secretary include:

Jean-Pierre grilled on tweet calling 2016 election 'stolen'

White House press secretary grilled on tweet calling 2016 election stolen

Jean-Pierre, prior to joining the Biden White House, asserted on Twitter that Donald Trump had stolen the 2016 election and that Brian Kemp, the Republican governor of Georgia, had stolen his election in 2018.

In Sept. 2022, Peter Doocy of Planet Chronicle questioned the White House spokesperson about the criticism faced by "MAGA Republicans" for their claims of election theft in the 2020 election, despite Democrats having cast doubt on other elections.

Doocy started by saying that you had tweeted in 2016 about Trump stealing an election.

"I knew this was coming, Peter," Jean-Pierre said, interrupting. "I was waiting for you to ask me that question."

""If denying election results is extreme now, why wasn't it then?" Doocy responded, citing Trump's tweets about stealing elections from him and Brian Kemp."

Jean-Pierre stated that the comparison made was unreasonable, specifically regarding voting rights.

"Governor Kemp won the election in Georgia, and I have been clear about that. I have also stated that President Trump won the election in 2016, and I have made that clear. However, the focus of our conversation now is the events of January 6th, 2021, when we witnessed an insurrection and a mob that was incited by the person who was in the White House. This was an attack on our democracy."

Jean-Pierre claims that voter suppression and high turnout can occur simultaneously.

Karine Jean-Pierre denies White House trying to protect Biden from press questions: Absolutely not

In October 2022, Jean-Pierre raised eyebrows by stating that voter suppression and high turnout could occur simultaneously during a press briefing, when asked about the midterm election turnout in Georgia. She made the comments in response to Biden's suggestion that Georgia's voting laws were akin to "Jim Crow 2.0," given that the state saw record early voting turnout.

"Jean-Pierre stated that high turnout and voter suppression can occur simultaneously, and they don't have to happen independently."

Reporters press Jean-Pierre on Hunter Biden

Reporters grill White House spox over latest Hunter Biden developments

In June 2023, the House Ways and Means Committee made public testimony from IRS whistleblowers accusing misconduct in the investigation of Biden's son Hunter's tax probe. One of the findings was an alleged WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to a Chinese business associate, in which he used his father's name as part of what Republicans claimed was an illegal scheme.

Jean-Pierre, the press secretary, refused to answer reporters from CNN, New York Times, New York Post, Newsmax, and NBC News when asked about the allegations.

"Jean-Pierre initially stated that he would not participate in family discussions involving his son, Hunter."

Jean-Pierre became increasingly agitated towards New York Post correspondent Steven Nelson after repeated inquiries about the whistleblowers' testimonies.

"I have already answered the question, and it is not your responsibility to determine how I answered it. My colleagues at the White House counsel have dealt with this issue, and I recommend referring you to them for further information."

Jean-Pierre mentioned that he wouldn't discuss the matter with the president.

Jean-Pierre argues viral frail Biden videos were ‘cheap fakes’

Karine Jean-Pierre claims awkward viral Biden videos are cheap fakes

In June, just a month before Biden withdrew from the presidential race, several videos became popular online showing the president appearing disoriented and weak, rekindling worries about his age.

Jean-Pierre described the videos as "edited to make the president appear frail or mentally confused" and called them "cheap fakes," attributing the phrase to the Washington Post, which he claimed was spreading "misinformation, disinformation."

"Jean-Pierre stated that the deepfakes and manipulated videos being shared by Republicans reveal their desperation. Instead of focusing on the president's legislative achievements and how they have benefited the American people, these videos are being used in bad faith."

KJP walks back repeated denials about Hunter Biden’s pardon

Karine Jean-Pierre bombarded by press over Hunter Biden in first televised briefing since pardon

In the remaining weeks of his presidency, Biden shocked both political parties by granting a pardon to his son, despite previously stating he wouldn't.

Jean-Pierre had consistently stated at the podium that a pardon was not an option, even as a conviction seemed increasingly probable. Following Hunter Biden's pardon in December, she was confronted about her remarks.

Jean-Pierre stated that the president pardoning his son would be a "no," "no," and "no."

"Jean-Pierre stated that Biden's justification for the pardon was comprehensive, and he added that "the circumstances have changed.""

Miller countered with a reminder of her commitments made when she was appointed press secretary, to which she responded.

Jean-Pierre was informed by Miller during his first press secretary briefing that he would speak transparently, truthfully, and honestly.
