As he solidifies his status as an action star, Scott Eastwood discusses the lessons he gleaned from his legendary father's renowned films.
Sylvester Stallone and Clint Eastwood team up in the new action thriller 'Alarum'
Scott Eastwood is following in his father Clint's footsteps by establishing himself as a successful action star.
"Fast X" star Eastwood is set to star in "Alarum" alongside Willa Fitzgerald, Mike Colter, and Sylvester Stallone. The action-thriller follows two married spies caught in the middle of an international intelligence network's efforts to obtain a critical asset.
"Eastwood stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that he enjoyed the writing in his new film, as well as the voices of the characters."
The actor had to set aside his fighting abilities for the part, but he stated it was comparable to "learning to ride a bike."
After doing it frequently, you may need to refresh your skills slightly, but they will quickly return.
"I believe I enjoy action because I am skilled at it. I have been practicing martial arts for 20 years. The ability to move quickly, enter and exit a scene without injury, and repeat the process is crucial for action movies. Therefore, it is essential to maintain physical fitness."
Clint Eastwood, Scott's dad, is renowned for his iconic action roles, including "Dirty Harry" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," as well as his prolific directing of westerns and other classics. Scott recalls fondly watching his father's work as a child but doesn't attribute any specific film to inspiring him to pursue acting.
"I don't know if it was a specific one," he said. "I remember watching movies like when I was growing up. I remember watching 'Unforgiven' and thinking that was - I was probably 10 - and I remember thinking that that was a pretty amazing movie and knowing at the time that it was pretty amazing and just thinking, 'Wow that's such a cool way to live a life. To tell stories.'"
"As human beings, we inherently do that, right? We tell stories to people, and I believe people are intrigued by them. Thus, making movies and telling stories is an interesting art form that affects people."
Stallone collaborated with Eastwood on the film "Alarum."
"Working with him was pretty fun," Eastwood said. "Kicking in doors and shooting people."
Eastwood, like his renowned father, expressed his aspiration to one day direct and try his hand at filmmaking.
"The next chapter will likely occur if I can manage to make it happen," he stated.
Fans of Eastwood observed a resemblance between Scott and his father in the "Alarum" trailer and inquired about when he would appear in a western.
He smiled and said, "They must write a good one."
"Alarum" is in theaters Friday, January 17.
