Anti-Trump Republican pundit clashes with Harris supporter: "Can't abandon all values"
Scott Jennings stated that Republicans are being asked to surrender control of the government to extreme liberal elements.
On Monday, CNN commentator Scott Jennings and former Republican advisor Stuart Stevens disagreed on whether Republicans should support Vice President Harris in the upcoming election.
Jennings stated that the January 6, 2021 riot at the Capitol did not mean that he or any other Republican had to abandon every value they had previously held, including those related to taxes, the court, and other policies.
"Jennings stated that he is not willing to surrender the government to absolute radical liberals in one day, as he believes that policy choices are crucial for the country's future."
Scott, listen," Stevens interrupted, saying, "It’s not one day.
Jennings stated to CNN panelists that using the argument that Trump voters are unpatriotic is not a convincing point for Republicans.
Jennings stated that the statement made by former Georgia Lt. Gov. Duncan during his speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) would hit a lot of Republican ears very poorly.
Duncan said that Republicans who support Harris are patriots.
""If you vote for Kamala Harris in 2024, you're not a Democrat, you're a patriot," he said, addressing his Republican friends at home."
"Jennings argued that it was a poor argument to claim that one's patriotism is dependent on their choice of government, especially when there are many Republican voters who are not fully supportive of Trump."
Stevens stated that anti-Trump voters preferred someone who did not attempt to overthrow the government of the United States.
As November approaches, Trump and Harris are intensifying their campaign efforts in key states. According to Real Clear Politics, Harris currently leads Trump by a narrow 1.5-point margin nationally, a substantial change from the 3-point advantage Trump held over Biden the day after the president withdrew from the race.
