Anonymous Biden aide criticized by David Axelrod for stating the president would have won election.
Axelrod dismissed the claim as "nonsense."
On Friday, during his podcast, David Axelrod, a former adviser to President Obama, criticized an anonymous aide to President Biden for asserting that the president would have defeated President-elect Trump if the election had been held again.
"Axelrod stated that an unnamed Biden aide quoted the Obama team as having driven Biden out of the presidential race in 2016, and that he would have defeated Trump. Additionally, Axelrod claimed that the Obama team had driven Biden out again in 2020, and that he would have won against Trump once more. Axelrod exclaimed, "Bulls***!""
Since Trump won the 2024 election, Democrats have been blaming him and questioning his mistakes.
"Speak up and express your thoughts openly. Sign your name to them, and let's discuss them. However, don't be a cowardly little sniveler and put an anonymous quote out there that's pure bulls***."
Mike Murphy, Axelrod's co-host, concurred and stated that if Biden had been a nominee, the Republicans would currently possess the House by 25 seats.
Axelrod stated, "We discussed the idea that he should have exited earlier. The individuals providing these anonymous quotes are those who reside in a bubble of enablers who should have approached him earlier and advised, 'Cash in your tips, boss, you'll be esteemed more highly, and your party will have a better chance of winning.'" He further added, "They are all intertwined in this circle of denial."
Murphy suggested that they label it as a "cover-up."
Nancy Pelosi recommended in a New York Times interview that Biden should have exited the race earlier after contributing to the effort to persuade the president to withdraw.
If the president had left office earlier, there might have been more contenders running for the election, according to Pelosi.
"Pelosi believes that Kamala may have done well in a primary and been stronger going forward, but they don't know for sure. The president's immediate endorsement of Kamala made it difficult to have a primary at that time, and if it had been earlier, it would have been different."
