An ex-FBI agent cautions against comparing Trump to a dictator, stating that it led to an assassination attempt: "Unique"
Tim Clemente cautioned that we may not have seen the end of political violence, as he warned, "I don't think this is the last we'll see of crazies out there trying to do this."
He warned that this wasn't the end of crazies attempting to do this.
On Sunday, while golfing at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., Trump was targeted by an assassination attempt. Secret Service agents fired on the suspect, who was attempting to shoot Trump through a hole in the fence about 300 yards ahead of him.
Clemente was asked by CNN host Erin Burnett to provide his thoughts on the "unprecedented" occurrence of two assassination attempts against a former president within a nine-week time frame.
Clemente stated that it is increasingly uncivilized in society, as political diatribes and indictments of candidates are becoming more common.
Trump's "bloodbath" comments about the auto industry were used as an example by media pundits who called him "Hitler," and this led to attempts on his life.
Unfortunately, the accusations against Trump have resulted in the use of violent language, such as the "bloodbath" and "auto industry" being used to describe a potential coup, which is typically associated with Third World dictatorships. This has led to attempts on Trump's life, and it is unlikely to stop.
The comments were shared on X by Newsbusters managing editor Curtis Houck.
The former president accused President Biden and Vice President Harris of labeling him a "threat to democracy" through their rhetoric, which he believes motivated the shooter.
"Trump stated that the gunman was influenced by the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it. "Their words are causing me to be targeted, even though I am the one who will save the country, and they are the ones who are destroying it from within and out," Trump said."
Routh previously mirrored Biden and Harris' anti-Trump remarks, stating on social media that "Democracy is at stake" and that Democrats "cannot afford to lose."
In the aftermath of the assassination attempt, both Biden and Harris condemned "political violence" and praised the Secret Service for safeguarding Trump.
Biden said he was "relieved" that the former president was unharmed.
"I have repeatedly stated that our country has no place for political violence, and I have instructed my team to provide Secret Service with all the resources, capabilities, and protective measures necessary to safeguard the former President's safety," he said.
Harris expressed gratitude that Trump is safe while emphasizing Biden's commitment to allocating resources to the Secret Service.
