A guest at the rally where former President Trump was nearly assassinated spoke with Planet Chronicle Digital about feeling lucky after being close to someone who was shot and found unresponsive.

If the shot had been directed slightly differently, it would have been me who got hit, said Benjamin Shrader, CEO of Shrader Promotions LLC in Texas.

Shrader met Trump before the rally and described him as being in great spirits, healthy, and happy. He also noted that Trump had a strong handshake and seemed to be enjoying himself. Shrader added that there were plenty of security and tactical teams present at the event, and nothing seemed suspicious.

As the assassination attempt happened, Shrader stated that many people around him initially failed to comprehend the gravity of the situation and believed it was a fireworks display. Shrader was positioned on the left side of the stage, with Trump seated to his right.

Crowd screams after assassination attempt at Trump rally

He recounted to Planet Chronicle Digital how he was shouting, "It's a shooter! It's a shooter!" as people looked around and some stood on chairs. Then, there were blood-curdling screams.

The mayor of the town was holding a crying woman while a lot of people were crouched around the ground, according to Shrader.

A puddle of blood and an individual who had been shot were seen by Shrader behind him after hearing gun shots.

Shrader described the scene as "horrific" due to the excessive amount of blood, which made it difficult to see anything above the waist. Despite CPR being performed, the individual did not appear to be reviving.

The only person to die in the tragedy, besides the killer, was Corey Comperatore, a local fire chief who was shot while protecting his daughter from an assassination attempt.

Shrader stated that he observed the president briefly cover his head with his vest, but there was no visible blood.

The president was shot, but he defiantly raised his fist in the air after the attempted assassination. The Secret Service immediately jumped on Trump to keep him safe. Trump sustained a wound in his right ear from a bullet.

Crowd panics after Trump assassination attempt

He was concerned that someone might have drawn a handgun and fired at the president from behind him, despite the shots sounding relatively quiet.

It was only later that Shrader realized there was a building filled with tactical soldiers, where the shooter was hiding.

The Secret Service arrived in the VIP section to direct guests out of the bleachers and facilitate a swift exit.

Shrader described being lucky and blessed for being alive after the rally.

Shrader, despite his interest in politics and community involvement, will not attend another political rally for a while.

"I'm definitely going to take a break from rallies because this was a close call for me," he said. "I dropped everything and made sure I was here, and the thought of it going differently is scary."

Trump supporters rush to exit after assassination attempt

Shrader is enthusiastic about casting his vote for Trump in the impending election.

"Many Trump supporters are galvanized because the president displayed great strength in the face of adversity. I would walk through broken glass to vote for him," he stated.
