Americans express frustration over "exorbitant" prices before the presidential election.
In the past four years, there has been a 22.8% increase in food prices, as determined by a FOX Business analysis.
Residents in Houston, Texas, Knoxville, TN., and Washington, D.C., were interviewed by Fox Digital about their opinions on current grocery prices due to inflation and whether they feel more financially stable under the Biden-Harris administration or during the Trump administration.
Kenneth stated that the prices are currently at their highest point, which is unacceptable, and the issue would be resolved if Trump returned to the White House.
Becky in Knoxville disagrees with the belief that the increase in costs is due to the Biden administration.
She stated that America was in a pandemic four years ago, and things were very grim at that time.
Becky remarked that she was uncertain if either Trump or Kamala Harris could reduce prices when comparing their handling of costs.
"Grocery store costs are high, but I trust Kamala Harris to make an effort to lower prices," she said.
In Houston, Mina stated that she found the cost of groceries to be unacceptable and a bit excessive.
In Washington, D.C., Elbert stated that he believed prices were excessively high.
"During the Trump administration, things were significantly lower," Edwin stated in Knoxville.
"Whether Trump can implement his policies is uncertain, and I feel torn between the two options. They both have their strengths," he stated.
Enoch in Houston stated that the current cost of groceries is unacceptable, although it is higher than before, he believes it was more affordable during Trump's presidency. As a result, he expressed trust in Trump.
Kriston, a mother of three in Knoxville, stated that she believes it's unacceptable and that it has become extremely uncontrolled and has escalated significantly.
Since 2020, meat prices have risen nearly 22.6%, which is roughly the same percentage increase in overall food prices over the past four years, according to a FOX Business analysis.
Since August 2020, rents for primary residences have increased nearly 23.4%, similar to the rise in shelter prices.
In the past four years, other than housing, energy, health care, education, and plane tickets have also experienced an increase in cost.
During the debate, Trump criticized inflation under the Biden administration and claimed that he had left behind an economy that was already recovering from the pandemic when Biden and Harris assumed office.
"Our economy has been severely impacted by inflation, which is a major contributor to the breakdown of countries. We are currently experiencing unprecedented levels of inflation, likely the worst in our country's history. While the official inflation rate is 21%, many items are actually 50%, 60%, 70%, and 80% higher than they were just a few years ago."
