After Trump's victory, Democrats are struggling to find their way without a clear leader, according to Jen Psaki.
Psaki encouraged emerging Democrats to take charge as the party lacks leadership.
After Kamala Harris' defeat to President-elect Donald Trump, MSNBC host Jen Psaki stated that the Democratic Party is in a state of "wilderness" and lacks a leader.
On NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday, Psaki was questioned about how Democrats can regain their footing and establish a clear direction after losing the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives.
"As you mentioned earlier, Democrats are in a state of uncertainty, with no clear leader of the party. Joe Biden's time in office is coming to an end, and Kamala Harris lost the recent election. While there may be potential leaders emerging, there is currently no clear frontrunner for the party's leadership," she stated.
The former White House press secretary stated that Harris' loss presents an opportunity for emerging Democratic leaders to "grab the reins" and lead the party through its ongoing struggles following a string of crushing election losses.
"That, to me, is an opportunity because people have to decide. Nobody's given it, right. You seize the mantle, or you don't," Psaki said. "Are you going to be the person who decides who's the right person to stand up against Trump? Or are you going to be the person who brings the country together? Are you going to be the person who talks about the economy and in ways that people understand? There are lots of ways to do it. I don't know who's going to emerge, but that's the moment we're in right now."
Democrats are still blaming each other for Harris's loss in the post-election analysis. Psaki recently stated on MSNBC that the party's over-reliance on "never-Trump" Republicans was a mistake, and they should have focused more on winning over disaffected Democratic voters.
She also attributed the "huge misread" on the importance of the abortion issue to Democrats, which led to many voters who traditionally supported Democrats not turning out to support Harris on Election Day.
