According to a report, Chuck Todd of NBC has been holding talks with other news outlets and is planning to depart from the network.
In 2023, 'Meet the Press' host Chuck Todd was replaced.
According to a report, longtime NBC host Chuck Todd, who was previously the moderator of "Meet the Press," is currently meeting with other media organizations and has plans to depart from the network.
Semafor reported Sunday that Chuck Todd has been secretly discussing his future with Washington media outlets since leaving NBC.
According to the report, Todd, who is 52 years old, has informed "top editors and leaders from other media organizations that he intends to depart from NBC when his contract expires this year, and has explored various job prospects in both broadcast and digital media."
Since being replaced by Kristen Welker as the host of "Meet the Press" in 2023, Todd has become less visible on NBC.
In March 2024, Todd criticized NBC News for hiring former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel as an analyst, stating that it was a poor decision. He also questioned his bosses for putting Welker in an awkward position by having her interview McDaniel, who was once a paid colleague of Welker's, about her past 2020 election rhetoric.
"In March, Todd told Welker, "I think our bosses owe you an apology for putting you in this situation, because I don't know what to believe.""
Todd stated that he was unsure if McDaniel's response to Welker was due to her desire to avoid "messing up" her new contract.
Todd previously stated that the RNC's dealings with NBC News under McDaniel's leadership were met with gaslighting and character assassination, and he mentioned the internal turmoil among NBC News journalists who were upset about McDaniel's hiring. McDaniel's contract was terminated less than a week later.
Todd has previously hosted his own MSNBC program, "The Daily Rundown," and served as NBC's chief White House correspondent.
