A new guide assists parents in safeguarding their children from "woke" ideologies in schools.
Concerned parents can now take action with the release of a new 'roadmap' by an anti-CRT website.
A website that monitors critical race theory and other "woke" ideas in higher education has created a free tool for parents to combat these ideologies in schools.
The CriticalRace.org has released a K-12 Parent's Guide to "equip" parents with "information and a strategy" to challenge CRT in their child's school.
The guide, initially released to Planet Chronicle Digital, traces the history of CRT and highlights frequently used terms related to it, including DEI, decolonization, and anti-racism.
Parents are provided with resources on how to locate CRT in public schools and how to take action against its influence on their child's education.
The reason for creating the resource, according to Kemberlee Kaye, Managing Editor of CriticalRace.org, was due to the growing demand from parents of young students for assistance in addressing this topic in their child's education.
To assist families who cannot remove their children from public schools but wish to safeguard them as much as possible, a parent guide is available.
Kaye stated that they are deeply committed to ensuring that education is free from overt biases that may turn children against their families, culture, and country. While it may not be possible for everyone to remove their children from government-run education and opt for private or home education, they created a Parent's Guide to provide a roadmap for parents concerned about what their children might be learning in the public school system.
Unfortunately, it is the case that parents must be cautious of their local school districts, despite it not being ideal. However, we hope that with increased involvement, demand for transparency, and a focus on improving education for children, the system will change and abandon harmful ideologies.
The legal and academic framework known as critical race theory has gained prominence as a cultural flashpoint following George Floyd's death, contributing to a national racial reckoning.
According to Encyclopedia Britannica, proponents of CRT believe that race is a social construct created by dominant groups to oppress or exploit people of color.
Across the country, school board meetings have been the site of heated debates among parents regarding the impact of CRT on their children's education.
In 2021, Cornell Law School professor William Jacobson launched the database CriticalRace.org to reveal how the critical race theory ideology is spreading throughout US institutions.
The website provides information on nearly 400 colleges and universities, as well as medical schools, and also includes details on CRT initiatives at the top 50 elite private K-12 schools in the country.
Critics argue that CRT, which emphasizes race, gender, and sexuality in workplaces, is divisive and discriminatory, similar to DEI.
Jacobson previously stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that critical race theory, which originated at Harvard Law School and has since spread to K-12 schools, corporations, and government, is an elite ideology that prioritizes race over individual equality.
Planet Chronicle' Brian Flood and Sam Dorman contributed to this article.
