A former Democratic lawmaker expressed reservations about Biden's communication skills and believed the presidential race was unattainable.
Susan Wild, in an interview on CNN, stated that despite being as close as they are now, she sometimes struggles to comprehend what he is saying.
On Wednesday, former Democratic Rep. Susan Wild expressed her doubts about President Biden's communication skills and asserted that Vice President Kamala Harris's chances of winning the 2024 race were slim.
She expressed confidence in his mental abilities but had concerns about his projection and speaking skills. Despite his lifelong speech impediment, she saw something different firsthand.
As President of the United States, it's crucial to communicate effectively, yet I sometimes struggled to understand what he was saying, even though we were close. This caused me concern, as it's not just about speaking professionally, but being able to comprehend what's being said. However, my concerns were not about his cognitive abilities.
President Biden discussed his legacy and his potential re-election in an interview with USA Today, but admitted he was uncertain about his ability to last four more years.
Would Democrats have benefited from Biden's honesty about his age in the interview, as asked by Hunt?
"Wild stated that the line wouldn't have helped Democrats, and he questioned whether Trump could have won."
The presence of a woman, particularly a woman of color, at the top of the ticket may not have helped Democrats win the presidency. However, the age issue, competence concerns, and debate performance were significant factors that hindered Joe Biden's campaign. It is challenging to determine the extent to which these factors contributed to his loss.
In an interview on CNN, Hunt posed a question to Wild: "Could Kamala Harris have won the presidency? Was it a winnable race for her, or was it unwinnable?"
Wild stated, "I believe it was unbeatable. I believe we underestimated the Trump effect and his capacity to recover."
Susan Page of USA Today questioned Biden about his ability to continue serving as president for another term.
"I didn't know if I was the right person to run for president," Biden admitted. "When I first announced, I talked to Barack [Obama] about it and thought I was the best candidate. I didn't intend to run after my son Beau died, but when Trump ran for re-election, I believed I had the best chance of defeating him."
Biden stated that he wasn't seeking the presidency at the age of 85 or 86, and he discussed passing the baton, reflecting on his age concerns before dropping out of the race.
During a White House event on Sunday, Biden admonished reporters, asserting, "Although I am the oldest president, I have met more world leaders than any of you have in your entire existence!"
