5 controversial DNC media moments, including the use of the term "Kamala Harris Democrats" and the comparison of Obama and Jesus.
The Democratic National Convention receives favorable coverage from CNN and MSNBC.
The Democratic National Convention in Chicago was highly praised by liberal media figures, with Vice President Kamala Harris being hailed as the party's savior and former President Obama being compared to Jesus.
During the DNC, both CNN and MSNBC had prominent staff members speak on their main stage, and both networks were filled with exaggerated moments throughout the four-day event.
The excitement at the event wasn't just about listening to network colleagues like Ana Navarro and Al Sharpton speak to attendees, but rather a newfound hope that Harris can defeat former President Trump now that she has officially replaced President Biden on the party's ticket.
Here are some of the most extreme media moments:
Alex Wagner of MSNBC asserts that Trump's "White patriarchy" supporters are fearful of the future of America with Obama and Harris.
This week, MSNBC's hosts, known for their sycophancy toward Democrats, were enraptured with the event and fawned over every major speaker. However, there were also some caustic digs at voters who backed former President Trump.
On Tuesday, Alex Wagner, a media figure married to former Obama White House chef Sam Kass, declared that Trump and his "White patriarchy" MAGA supporters were afraid of the "multicultural" future represented by former President Obama and Vice President Kamala Harris.
"It seems that no one is ready to write the epigraph for the Trump years, but I believe it's a powerful suggestion that Barack Obama is the future, Kamala Harris is the future, and Donald Trump is the past. This idea that a multicultural inclusive America is the road we're heading down, and that the sort of White patriarchal society that allowed Donald Trump to profiteer as much as he has is going into the rearview, is indeed at the core of so much of his power over his audience."
If you are part of the White patriarchy like Donald Trump and his supporters, the idea of change and leaders like Barack Obama and Kamala Harris, who are multi-ethnic and progressive, can be distressing, right?
Dana Bash of CNN contends that the DNC targets men who are not as "testosterone-laden."
On Wednesday, CNN anchor Dana Bash expressed surprise when she stated that Democrats are attempting to win the backing of men who prefer speakers such as Gov. Tim Walz and second gentleman Doug Emhoff over wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, who publicly supported Trump at the Republican National Convention by tearing off his shirt.
Bash stated that they are using male figures, such as Tim Walz and Doug Emhoff, to communicate with men who may not fit the stereotype of being testosterone-laden, gun-toting individuals who want to listen to Hulk Hogan and the type of players who appeared at the RNC.
The CNN anchor stated that Democrats aim to win over men who are comfortable with their own skin and support women in 2024.
Bash stated that they are actively working on engaging male voters beyond their base.
The CNN host's comment about Walz and Emhoff being "beta" males was intended as a compliment, but it sparked mockery on social media among conservatives who took it as an insult. Some felt that her suggestion that being a wife-supporting husband and enjoying activities like wrestling and hunting were mutually exclusive was problematic.
MSNBC hosts were reportedly "stamping and clapping" during Walz's DNC speech, according to Rachel Maddow.
This week, Rachel Maddow of MSNBC admitted that the entire crew was supporting the Harris-Walz ticket.
During his acceptance speech for the vice-presidential nomination, the Minnesota governor was applauded and cheered for by his fellow hosts, reporters, and commentators on the network.
"I was completely unprepared for how it would unfold," Maddow admitted Wednesday night following Walz's speech. "The atmosphere in the room, with our small group at MSNBC headquarters, everyone stood up and began to cheer and clap."
The moment was electrifying for Maddow and other MSNBC hosts in the room.
DNC attendees are dancing to their own tunes, according to Joy Reid.
The DNC attendees were seen laughing and singing on the convention floor after President Biden left the race, according to MSNBC's Joy Reid.
Reid stated, "I haven't witnessed so many Democrats laughing, smiling, and singing. It's almost as if there's a melody in the air. I'm not sure if you can hear me over the music behind me, but it seems like people are dancing to the rhythm in their minds."
The host of MSNBC stated that Democrats are experiencing a strong sense of relief that hasn't been felt in at least eight years.
People love Joe Biden as much as they think, and he is beloved in this party. People were prepared to fight like junkyard dogs to get him over the finish line. There's a sense that it'll be a fight, but it'll be a joyous one now. It won't be a slog, and people are just relieved and happy.
Reid seemed to be one of the relieved ones.
Barack Obama is the only one who doesn't have Jesus or HBCUs.
April Ryan, a left-wing White House correspondent, compared former President Obama to Jesus and proposed that Vice President Harris could be added to the list of things that excite people.
Ryan praised Michelle Obama as "stratospheric" and "authentic," and also mentioned the former president, Jesus Christ, and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) as exceptional examples.
Ryan stated on MSNBC that he jokingly mentions Jesus, HBCUs, and Barack Obama, but there may be a slight change if Kamala Harris becomes president. These are two individuals that people want to hear from at the moment.
