School buses in California targeted by migrant groups, says report.
Two incidents occurred in the same district within a day.
On Wednesday, a school bus in California was targeted by around 20 suspected illegal migrants who tried to board the bus while it was picking up elementary students, causing concern among parents, according to local reports.
A larger group of suspected migrants attempted to board a school bus in the same district 24 hours after a smaller group tried to do the same, according to local media citing education officials.
According to FOX 5, an email notice sent by superintendent Liz Bystedt to student families stated that on Wednesday, a group of 20 migrants attempted to board a bus that was picking up students along highway 94.
The encounter was "really scary" for the children, said Nicole Cardinale, whose 8-year-old son was on the bus.
No migrants boarded either bus and no injuries were reported, according to the outlet.
During an investigation, buses will pass by migrants at stops and proceed directly to the next one on the route to ensure the safety of students and bus drivers.
She instructed families in the emailed notice to remain vigilant and follow the bus to pick up their child at the next stop if the bus drives by.
King stated in a FOX 5 interview that the Sheriff's Office takes student safety seriously and is collaborating with the school district to ensure the safety of students and the community.
Border Patrol and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department were contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital, but no immediate response was received.
Another parent, Jeremy Adams, urged the district to develop a safety plan to address concerns.
Adams stated to FOX 5 that we have no information about the criminal history or background of these individuals.
San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, representing the Fifth District, stated on X that the incidents were due to an open border policy.
Desmond wrote, "This is horrific and requires an immediate investigation," while sharing a video news report about the incident.

A bill that would provide up to $150,000 in first-time homeownership loans to illegal immigrants has been advanced by California lawmakers. If passed and signed into law, it would offer first-time homebuyers up to 20% of a home's value or up to $150,000 as down payment assistance.
