DJ Johnson of the Panthers will not play in the last game of the season due to a car accident.
A team representative confirmed that Johnson suffered a concussion.
This weekend, the Carolina Panthers will be without linebacker DJ Johnson for their final game of the season against the Atlanta Falcons, as confirmed by head coach Dave Canales on Friday.
A personal matter caused Johnson, 26, to be listed as out in Friday's injury report.
Canales confirmed to reporters that the team did not elaborate on the car crash.
Canales stated that we gathered information over the last night and morning, and there was a car accident.
"I know enough about it to the point where he's currently being evaluated."
Joe Person Johnson, a team spokesperson for The Athletic, was involved in a two-car accident in Charlotte on Thursday and sustained a concussion. No other details about the accident were immediately available.
In the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Panthers selected Johnson. This season, he has recorded 44 tackles, one quarterback hit, and one fumble recovery in 14 games and two starts.
Sunday is a must-win game for the Falcons, as they have already been eliminated from the playoffs.
The Falcons lost their top spot in the NFC South last week due to a loss by the Commanders and a win by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, a win by the Falcons and a loss by the Bucs on Sunday would secure the Falcons a spot in the postseason.
