Byron Murphy II was subjected to a prank by the Seahawks, which involved an outrageous dinner bill.
At the end of the night, Byron Murphy II was left with a substantial amount to pay.
Byron Murphy II, a defensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks, was the latest target of the notorious and costly rookie dinner, but his teammates added an extra element of surprise by playing a prank on him.
The NFL rookie traditionally pays for the high-priced dinner for the team's veterans, with bills often totaling tens of thousands of dollars.
In the 2024 draft, the Seahawks selected Murphy with the No. 16 overall pick. However, he was unprepared for the unexpected when he learned about his rookie dues.
On Friday, videos posted on Murphy's Instagram revealed that the Seahawks players accumulated a debt of over $155,000.
And Murphy’s reaction said it all.
Although the real bill was still shockingly high for just one night of team bonding, thankfully, the receipt was just a prank.
The total, including tip, exceeded $38,000, but it shouldn't be an issue for Murphy to pay.
The former Texas standout signed a four-year contract worth over $16 million with an annual salary of approximately $4 million.
The Seahawks were eliminated from the playoffs last week and will close out the season with a game against the Rams on Sunday.
