Major errors leading up to the Trump assassination attempt were discussed with top senators.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal predicts that the American people will be stunned and appalled by the upcoming report.
On Thursday, Acting U.S. Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe briefed a group of leading senators on the committee of Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (HSGAC) about the ongoing investigation into the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump in July.
According to HSGAC Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI) Chairman Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., the American people will be shocked, astonished, and appalled by the failures by the Secret Service in the assassination attempt on the former president, as he reported to Planet Chronicle Digital following the briefing.
Despite being asked, the senator did not disclose any information about the meeting.
Rowe briefed Blumenthal, Johnson, Peters, and Paul before heading to the House to brief the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump.
Paul appreciated the director's efforts to prevent a recurrence of the incident, as he stated after the briefing.
On July 13, during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump was shot in the ear and one attendee was killed, while two others were critically injured.
The committee's bipartisan interim report on the assassination attempt will be released in a few days.
Paul stated that he believed the tool would accurately pinpoint particular mistakes made in the given task.
Peters stressed that the impending report would merely serve as a preliminary version because there is still a wealth of information that needs to be discovered.
He stated to Planet Chronicle that he hoped the release of the report would provide the necessary information to complete the report on what happened and the steps needed to prevent it from happening again.
Paul further stated to reporters that he did not gain any new insights into the shooter's motive or any other related information.
The Secret Service gave senators an initial briefing shortly after the assassination attempt, but many were left unsatisfied. Johnson stated that little information was shared, and the meeting was mainly to fulfill a requirement.
The day after the shooting, a Peters aide informed Planet Chronicle Digital that the committee would investigate the assassination attempt and that the chairman planned to meet with DHS Secretary Mayorkas over the weekend.
