Biden was seen smiling and laughing with Anwar Ibrahim and Paetongtarn Shinawatra during a family photo session. This weekend, Biden held private talks with leaders such as Boluarte and Shigeru Ishiba in closed-door meetings.
Biden, who is leaving office in January, is not standing in the typical location of American leaders in the photograph. In the 2023 APEC family photo, hosted in San Francisco, Biden was positioned in the center, with Trudeau and Xi on his right.
In 2017, former President Trump posed with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in the center of the APEC family photo.
This week, Biden met with the Republican leader to discuss the transition process, which took place nearly two weeks after the 2024 presidential election where Vice President Harris lost to Trump in a huge upset victory.
During the meeting, the Democratic president assured Trump that they would make sure he was accommodated and that they looked forward to a smooth transition.
