On Tuesday, Gregg Jarrett, a legal analyst for Planet Chronicle, stated that President-elect Trump's recent legal victory was not surprising after U.S. special counsel Jack Smith requested to drop the federal election interference case. Jarrett explained on "Fox & Friends" that Smith seemed "desperate" to aid the Democratic presidential nominee in winning in order to preserve his job and continue the "misbegotten" prosecutions.

The moment Trump won, Smith's misbegotten cases were over. He knew and feared that might happen, which is why he tried to rush the prosecutions before the election. When he failed, he attempted to harm Trump's chances at the ballot box to really see to the public damaging documents right before the election. This ignored DOJ rules that forbid it. Even the judge said that's irregular, but she happily went along with it. The special counsel was desperate to help the Democratic nominee win so he could keep his job and continue these vindictive prosecutions. However, Americans had the final say, and it didn't work.

Jack Smith's cases were politically motivated and legally weak, with constitutional roadblocks in their way. The Supreme Court shredded the J6 case on immunity grounds and the high court said the DOJ was misusing obstruction charges. As a result, Smith's cases were ultimately dismissed.

Jack Smith's federal Trump cases cost taxpayers more than $50 million

The Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol breach investigation pertained to Smith's case.

"U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled that the Government can dismiss the Superseding Indictment without prejudice, as the Defendant does not object to the Motion and the court will grant it."

Smith filed a motion to drop his appeal in his classified records case against Trump, which was dismissed by federal Judge Aileen Cannon in July due to Smith's unlawful appointment as special counsel.

Earlier this month, after Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election, Smith signaled he would begin winding down his case against Trump. The filing went live on the Department of Justice docket on Monday afternoon.
