Ukraine reports 41 deaths after Russia launches deadly strike.
At least 180 people were harmed, according to Ukraine.
On Tuesday, Ukraine suffered heavy losses as Russia launched a massive and lethal missile attack, resulting in the deaths of at least 41 individuals and injuries to over 180 others.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the missile strike hit the Ukrainian city of Poltava, which is approximately 70 miles from the Russian border.
In a video posted on social media, Zelenskyy stated that one of the buildings of the Institute of Communications was partially destroyed and many people found themselves under the rubble. However, many were saved.
He stated that all required services are involved in the rescue operation and that he has initiated a thorough and immediate investigation into the incident.
When many people were on their way to a bomb shelter, the Russian missiles hit shortly after the city's air raid alert sounded, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said, condemning the strike as "barbaric."
Ukrainian officials say that rescue crews and medics saved 25 people, with 11 of them being dug out from the rubble.
Zelenskyy took the opportunity to urge Western allies to provide swift military aid.
Zelenskyy wrote on social media that Ukraine urgently requires air defense systems and missiles, rather than them remaining in storage.
"Immediate long-range strikes are necessary to safeguard us from Russian terror, as each day of postponement increases the number of casualties," he emphasized.
Since the start of the war, Ukrainian forces have been fighting in the Kursk region for several weeks.
Over the past month, Ukraine has focused on attacking bridges and crossings over the Seim River in Kursk in an effort to hinder Russia's supply of forces in the region as Ukraine continues its efforts to seize control of the territory, according to East2West.
