The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, is under fire for not explicitly condemning the Hamas terrorist group for the murder of an American and five Israelis on Saturday.

The Israel Defense Forces were attempting to rescue six hostages, including Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who were being held by Hamas in a tunnel system beneath Gaza's Rafah city. However, they discovered that all six hostages had been brutally murdered by the terror group between Thursday and Friday morning, as reported by The Times of Israel, citing information from Israel's ministry of health.

Guterres wrote on X, "The tragic news today serves as a reminder of the need for the unconditional release of all hostages and an end to the nightmare of war in Gaza, as I vividly recall my meeting last October with the parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and other hostage families."

Erdan criticized Guterres for downplaying the seriousness of the murders by calling them "tragic" and not explicitly condemning Hamas.

Guterres' spokesperson did not immediately respond to a Planet Chronicle Digital inquiry.

Erdan, who recently left his ambassador role, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that the Secretary General has both Israeli and American blood on his hands. Despite his "fig leaf" meeting with hostage families, he has not taken any action to help them. He could have demanded Red Cross visits or condemned Hamas, but instead he criticized Israel, a law-abiding democracy, instead of the ISIS-like terrorists.

Erdan stated, "The Secretary General's failure to condemn Hamas terrorists is a new low, even for him. He supports their actions, which is why he cannot condemn them. Despite his criticism of Israel, the Secretary General continues to engage in meaningless photo-ops with hostage families and remains silent on the execution of innocent hostages in cold blood."

Anne Bayefsky, the director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust and the president of Human Rights Voices, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that "U.N. Secretary-General Guterres has turned the cold-blooded murder of Israeli hostages by Palestinian terrorists into a victory for the terrorists. He refuses to name the perpetrators and equates their deliberate execution with Israel's effort to release them."

The U.N.'s top apparatus, including its Security Council, General Assembly, and Human Rights Council, has never specifically condemned Hamas. The U.N.'s denial of the right of Israeli self-defense and its promotion of violence against the people of Israel has never been more clear. No amount of U.N. photo-ops with hostages or their families will erase the reality of the U.N.'s insidious role in the nightmare of war in Israel for seven decades.

In October, Erdan called for Guterres' resignation after accusing him of suggesting that Israel was responsible for the Hamas massacre that killed nearly 1,200 people, including 30 Americans, and kidnapped over 250 people. Guterres denied Erdan's allegations, but the UN has been criticized for its anti-Semitic and anti-Israel bias.

During Guterres' tenure, several U.N. agencies have been implicated in scandals where they displayed support for Hamas. The UNRWA, which is already under scrutiny for its role in aiding Hamas, is now facing a lawsuit in Manhattan for its alleged involvement in the group's slaughter on October 7.

Guterres' failure to name the perpetrators of the mass murder of six people was criticized by Hillel Neuer, the executive director of UN Watch. In a post on X, Neuer wrote, "Hamas just murdered six Israeli and American hostages by shooting them in the head. Why can’t you say so? Why can’t you condemn them?"

The United Nations does not classify Hamas as a terrorist organization. Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to Israel's current U.N. ambassador and foreign ministry for confirmation.
