Hamas captive freed by Israel after 325 days
With the rescue complete, 108 Israeli hostages are still being held captive by Hamas, with 38 confirmed fatalities.
One more Israeli hostage has been rescued.
On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Force and Israel Security Agency declared that another hostage captured during the Oct. 7 terrorist attack has been freed.
Yoav Gallant, the Israeli Minister of Defense, announced that Qaid Farhan Alkadi, who was held hostage in Gaza, was rescued by the IDF and ISA and brought to his family in Israel. This operation was a daring and courageous activity conducted by the IDF deep inside the Gaza strip.
"The IDF's actions are part of a series that bring us closer to achieving the goals of this war," Gallant stated. "I would like to reiterate and emphasize: Israel is committed to taking advantage of every opportunity to return the hostages home to Israel."
A mixed group of Israeli combatants, including members of the 401st Brigade, 162nd Division, and Shayetet 13, reportedly rescued Qaid Farhan Alkadi from Rahat.
The rescue was aided by members of the engineering combat spec-ops unit Yahalom and intelligence operatives from the Israel Security Agency.
Alkadi, 52, has been held in the Gaza Strip for nearly a year. No additional information is being disclosed about the rescue operation, "in light of concerns for the safety of our hostages, the security of our troops, and national security."
He is currently receiving medical care in the hospital and undergoing comprehensive health assessments. His condition is stable.
Alkadi's family has been informed of his recovery and will be accompanied by IDF personnel to meet with him.
In the Gaza Strip, 108 Israeli hostages are still being held by terrorists, with 36 confirmed fatalities following the rescue of Alkadi.
Over 320 days have passed since the Oct. 7 attack last year, during which the vast majority of individuals were seized.
