Geert Wilders, a Dutch firebrand, has joined the new government, signaling a warning to Europe's 'liberal elites.'
The Dutch populist party has emerged as the dominant force in the new coalition.
On Wednesday, the anti-Muslim immigration Freedom Party in the Netherlands, led by populist Dutch political leader Geert Wilders, formed a right-wing coalition government, causing ripples of surprise among Europe's political elite.
Thomas Corbett-Dillon, a political commentator and former adviser to conservative ex-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that the EU elections are approaching, and the liberal elites are in a state of panic because a significant shift to the right is expected across Europe. He explained that this shift is being driven by the youth, who have witnessed the devastation caused by left-wing authoritarians during the COVID-19 pandemic, the suppression of their national pride, and the invitation of the Third World into Europe, while they struggle to find jobs and cannot afford a home.
Across Europe, Right Wing parties are gaining popularity. Countries such as Ireland, Sweden, France, Hungary, and Italy are experiencing a surge in support for these parties. The European people have made it clear that they do not want more immigration, Islamification, or a Green agenda. The Dutch farmers who once blockaded their capital to demand their country back have now achieved their goal.
The "Hope, courage and pride" agreement between the four Dutch coalition party political factions included measures targeting immigration, such as deporting people without a valid residence permit, even forcibly.
"Wilders declared that they were making history today as he had secured the support of the three coalition parties, including the outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte, for the core of his program. He stated that the sun would shine again in the Netherlands with the strongest asylum policy ever."
The "Hope, courage and pride" deal eliminates family reunification for refugees and aims to decrease the number of international students studying in the country.
He stated that although he won't be the prime minister in the new government, his party will hold a significant role in power. He added, "This fills us with immense pride."
In the November election, Europe's mainstream parties were taken aback when Wilders obtained 25% of the national vote.
The Henry Jackson Society's executive director, Alan Mendoza, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the formation of this government implies that mainstream Dutch parties have surrendered to populists being in power and will now acknowledge their vote share. This will have a significant impact across Europe due to the political shift within the E.U., and reflects the political class's acceptance that voters' concerns must be addressed.
Mendoza, who closely monitors European politics, stated, "Although it is uncertain if a significant impact can be achieved in the areas of immigration and radical Islam, it is important to note that liberal vested interests in EU countries have a history of hindering efforts to implement reasonable policies in these fields."
Wilders has moderated some of his extreme views, such as a ban on the Koran and mosques, and he no longer supports the "Nexit" plan for the Netherlands to leave the EU.
Wilders, the "Dutch Donald Trump," has become the dominant figure in Dutch politics, with a population of nearly 18 million people. His party, along with the other coalition members, is considering the "right time" to move their embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem's capital.
The coalition will also introduce mandatory Holocaust education in the Dutch school system after outbreaks of antisemitism in support of the terrorist organization Hamas unfolded in Holland.
The coalition formed by Wilder's party, the conservative-liberal VVD, the centrist New Social Contract, and the Farmer Citizens Movement (BBB) announced in their agreement that they would submit an opt-out clause for European asylum and migration policies to the European Commission as soon as possible.
The Party of European Socialists, an umbrella organization for left-wing European parties, condemned the new right-wing Dutch government's developments as socialists.
Frans Timmermans, the "climate pope," received solidarity from socialists for his strict environmental goals within the EU.
The London Times reported that former EU Commissioner Timmermans expressed concern about the rise of a radical right-wing party in the Netherlands, stating that Wilders will be at the center of power, which he finds worrying.
This country, which requires reconciliation and bridge-building, now places someone at the helm who has been dividing for 20 years, according to Timmermans.
