An investigation has been launched by the US Army following the death of an American officer stationed in Poland: 'Outstanding leader'
Authorities mentioned 'unintentional manslaughter' in local reports, according to citations.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Army announced that it is probing the demise of an American soldier who perished while serving in Poland.
Lt. Col. Joshua Camara, 45, was stationed at Camp Kościuszko, the location of V Corps' forward headquarters in Poznan. He passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Camara, a public affairs officer, has been serving in V Corps since June 2024 and has received numerous awards, including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.
"Lt. Col. Josh Camara's family, friends, and teammates are in our thoughts and sympathies during this difficult time, as Col. Kevin Jackson, V Corps chief of staff, stated in a statement. He was an exceptional leader and mentor, and his legacy and impact will be remembered."
Earlier Wednesday, TVP World, an English-language Polish news network, reported that Camara was discovered inside an apartment following a military police raid on an apartment complex near Camp Kościuszko.
The report referred to Camara as a "senior officer" without mentioning his name. Colonel Bartosz Okoniewski, the Deputy District Prosecutor for Military Affairs in Poznań, stated that the evidence pointed to "unintentional manslaughter" rather than murder.
The TVP World report has not been confirmed by the U.S. Army. Planet Chronicle Digital has contacted the local authorities in Poznań for additional details.
