A global search is on for the individual suspected of perpetrating the "most despicable" act.
At the park, a 9-month-old baby was doused with hot coffee by a man, according to Queensland police.
A manhunt is underway internationally for a suspect who allegedly poured hot coffee on an infant at an Australian park last month.
An infant was assaulted by a coward at Hanlon Park in Stones Corner around noon on Aug. 27, according to Queensland police.
A stranger approached a family without any connection, poured a hot liquid on the child, and then escaped.
Queensland police stated in a press release that emergency crews were summoned and the infant was urgently transported to a hospital due to "severe burns."
The child was later released from the hospital.
The suspect, a 33-year-old "foreign national," was identified by detectives from the Morningside Child Protection Investigation Unit.
Queensland police said the suspect has since fled Australia.
Queensland Police's Paul Dalton stated that a warrant has been issued for his arrest, charging him with "intending to cause grievous bodily harm."
In his decades-long career, Dalton has never seen an attack on an infant as cowardly as the one he described.
Dalton stated that he had witnessed many repulsive actions, but none were as vulnerable as a young mother and her baby sitting on the ground.
The department is working with national and international partner agencies to investigate.
Meanwhile, a friend of the family has established a GoFundMe page to aid the infant's recovery.
The child's recovery will require multiple doctors, specialists, and hospital appointments, as stated on the page.
