William Owen Scharf, a lawyer for former President Donald Trump, has been appointed to a crucial role in the White House.
One of Trump's lawyers, Scharf, was previously a prosecutor.
William Owen Scharf, one of President-elect Trump's lawyers, will serve as assistant to the president and staff secretary in the upcoming administration.
""William Owen Scharf has been appointed as Assistant to the President and White House Staff Secretary by Trump, and will be a valuable member of the White House team," the statement read."
The Republican leader stated that Scharf, a former federal prosecutor, has been instrumental in defeating the Election Interference and Lawfare directed against him, including by securing the Historic Immunity Decision in the Supreme Court.
Trump stated, "As we Make America Great Again, we will make him proud."
Two federal appeals court judges have been clerked by Scharf, who holds undergraduate and law degrees from Princeton and Harvard, respectively.
As an assistant U.S. Attorney in St. Louis, Scharf also worked for Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens and was previously employed by CRC Advisors, a conservative public relations firm.
Although the lawyer ran for Missouri attorney general and lost to incumbent Andrew Bailey in the Republican primary, Bailey later won against Democrat Elad Gross in November.
Trump announced his pick for secretary of energy, Chris Wright, on Saturday night, shortly after posting about Scharf's appointment.
Trump wrote that Liberty Energy CEO Wright was one of the pioneers who helped launch the American Shale Revolution, which fueled American Energy Independence and transformed the Global Energy Markets and Geopolitics.
