Vance energizes voters in crucial state, attacks Harris in vice presidential race.
Trump and Vance make their first joint public appearance at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
On Saturday, former President Donald Trump and vice presidential nominee JD Vance will hold their first joint campaign event together, taking place just a week after an unsuccessful assassination attempt on Trump's life.
The Van Andel Arena, home to the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey team, was filled with thousands of people who came to see the pair who had just returned from a busy week at the Republican National Convention (RNC) where they were nominated to run for president together on the GOP ticket.
"It's astonishing that just a week ago an assassin attempted to kill Donald Trump, and now we have this crowd gathered in Michigan to celebrate his return," Vance remarked after taking the stage.
"What the hell have you done?" he asked, quickly beginning to take shots at Vice President Kamala Harris.
"What else has she accomplished besides receiving payment from her political positions?" he inquired, subsequently discussing his grandmother, whom he refers to as "Mamaw," and his upbringing.
After Vance's Wednesday speech at the RNC, where he accepted his role on the 2024 ticket, Harris criticized him.
""What is most telling is what he did not discuss on stage. He did not mention Project 2025, a 900-page blueprint for a second term, because their plans are extreme and divisive," Harris stated."
The fentanyl crisis, the border crisis, and the economy were the challenges discussed by him under President Biden's administration.
In November, Michigan is predicted to be a closely monitored battleground state, with the outcome potentially deciding who will be the next President of the United States for the next four years.
