Vance criticizes Walz over football IQ in a video game incident.
Walz likely knows more about football than Vance.
JD Vance, an Ohio senator and Republican vice presidential candidate, criticized Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's football knowledge after Walz posted a perplexing tweet while streaming himself playing Madden.
During a rally in Saginaw, Michigan on Tuesday, Vance stated that he believes he knows more about football than Gov. Tim Walz, who is often paraded around as a football genius due to his past as a coach.
Walz and Ocasio-Cortez teamed up to livestream a Madden NFL game session, an event aimed at broadening the campaign's appeal among young male voters.
During a livestream, Walz, a former defensive coordinator at Mankato West High School, made a social media post boasting that Ocasio-Cortez could run a pick 6.
""If you take the time to draw up a playbook, you're gonna use it," Walz continued in the post, which was subsequently deleted."
The "pick six" is not a play that you run but instead the result of a defensive player intercepting the ball and running it in for a touchdown, resulting in six points.
During his Tuesday event in Michigan, Vance argued that the post demonstrated the Minnesota governor's lack of football knowledge by joining the chorus.
"Vance stated that those who are knowledgeable about football understand that a pick six is an unintentional occurrence on the field. It happens when you run a spread offense or a West Coast offense."
Vance contended that he is more knowledgeable about football than Walz, and joked that former President Trump may know more about working at McDonald's than Vice President Kamala Harris does, alluding to Trump's experience serving fries at a Pennsylvania McDonald's and allegations that Harris lied about having work experience there.
"At times, politics can be a bit absurd, and we should occasionally make fun of the absurdity of our political system," Vance remarked.
The Harris campaign declined to comment on a Planet Chronicle Digital request.
