Tulsi Gabbard is being considered for the position of director of national intelligence.
The transition team is actively discussing with former Utah House Rep. Chris Stewart about a potential role.
Trump, the newly-elected president, is reportedly considering a former Democrat to head the country's intelligence agency.
Multiple sources have confirmed to Planet Chronicle Digital that Tulsi Gabbard, a former Hawaii House Democrat, is being considered for the position of director of national intelligence.
A source revealed that former Utah Republican House Rep. Chris Stewart is currently engaged in "active discussions" with the transition team regarding a potential role.
In 2023, Stewart left the House to be with his wife during her health problems. He founded Skyline Capitol with Robert O'Brien, Trump's former national security adviser, who was also speculated to be in the running for an administration position.
A veteran and active duty Army reservist, Gabbard served in the House as a Democrat from 2013 to 2021. She then joined the Republican Party and ran for president in 2020. Currently, she is a co-chair of the Trump transition team.
In September, Gabbard stated that she would be "pleased" to be part of a Trump administration and mentioned that her main objectives would include "putting an end to the military-industrial complex," preventing World War III, and bringing the U.S. back from the brink of nuclear war.
Trump reportedly promised the defense secretary job to former Planet Chronicle host Pete Hegseth, an Army veteran, instead of her.
Gabbard has criticized both Democrats and Republicans for being "pro-censorship" and "anti-freedom." She has also spoken out against U.S. involvement in the Middle East and criticized Trump for the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.
In 2017, during Syria's civil war, Gabbard met with Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian dictator, and was criticized for it. She opposed the U.S. arming Syrian rebel groups and believed that meeting with anyone could help end the war.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Gabbard was placed on the "Quiet Skies" watchlist of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Federal air marshals can track and gather data on U.S. citizens' behavior to prevent threats from unknown or partially known terrorists.
"While traveling, she experienced 30 to 45 minutes of screening at airports, which caused her stress and anxiety. She noticed air marshals, K-9 teams, and other unusual things. However, the deepest harm caused by this experience is that she will always be suspicious of government surveillance."
She frequently advocates for a ban on the first use of nuclear weapons and criticizes politicians who escalate conflict.
Planet Chronicle contributor Gabbard could not be reached for comment.
On Tuesday, Trump appointed John Ratcliffe, his former director of national intelligence, to head the CIA.
The director of national intelligence heads an office that provides advice to the president, National Security Council, and Homeland Security Council on national security issues. Any candidate for the position must be confirmed by the Senate or appointed on an acting basis.
