Trump uses drone controversy to criticize Christie.
The former New Jersey governor, who endorsed the president-elect in 2016, is no longer on good terms with him.
On Saturday, President-elect Trump used the drone controversy in New Jersey to criticize his former ally and current adversary, Chris Christie.
The president-elect, who will assume office in a month, posted a meme on Truth Social and X mocking his weight, featuring an artificially generated image of the former New Jersey governor eating McDonald's with drones delivering more McDonald's meals.
In 2016, Trump received Christie's endorsement, but later removed him from his transition team.
In 2023, Christie ran for president in the 2024 election, but his campaign was brief and he accused Trump of being a "coward" and a "Putin puppet." He withdrew from the race in January.
When he dropped out, he stated that it was more important for him to ensure that Donald Trump would never be president of the United States again, and he would do everything in his power to prevent it, even if it meant sacrificing his own personal ambition.
Since their falling-out, Trump has frequently made Christie's weight the subject of his jokes.
Since mid-November, New Jersey residents have been perplexed by inexplicable sightings of what seem like drones.
Reports of UFO sightings have been made in various regions of the country, including military bases, prompting legislators to request information.
According to New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and law enforcement, the drones do not seem to pose a danger to public safety.
On Friday, Trump ordered the drones to be shot down if there was no plausible explanation for them.
"Unidentified drone sightings across the nation have sparked concerns about government knowledge. The writer on Truth Social believes it's impossible to occur without government knowledge and demands transparency. He urges immediate action, including shooting down the drones if necessary."
