Trump to formally accept Republican presidential nomination in speech after assassination attempt.
The GOP 2024 convention has ended, and Trump will formally accept the Republican presidential nomination.
On Thursday, the 2024 Republican National Convention will culminate with former President Trump formally accepting the GOP presidential nomination, five days after surviving an assassination attempt.
The shooting at Trump's rally in western Pennsylvania on Saturday, which resulted in the death of one spectator and the gunman, affected the tone and message of the convention and changed the former president's speech.
This week, the Trump campaign announced that the former president, after his near-death experience, would use his speech to promote unity in the wake of tragedy rather than attacking his political opponents.
In a Washington Examiner interview on Sunday, Trump stated that his speech would be significantly different.
He emphasized that it was a chance to unite the country.
On the eve of his address, Trump declared his vision to unite the country and make it greater than ever before.
During the first three days of the convention, former GOP presidential rivals Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida and former U.N. ambassador and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who had battled Trump in a contentious primary season, delivered speeches from the podium in support of the former president.
The convention is being utilized by Republicans to bring the party together and motivate delegates and activists in preparation for the final stages of the 2024 election campaign, where President Trump will face off against President Biden.
"Earlier this week, Trump campaign manager Chris LaCivita stated that this is evidently an opportunity to unite the country. However, he emphasized that we must not forget that we are currently in the midst of a campaign and must prioritize winning it."
Biden's weakness is expected to be contrasted with Trump's major theme of strength in his 2024 campaign.
In a Planet Chronicle interview, Jason Miller highlighted the "strength and resilience" of President Trump just days after the assassination attempt.
The former president's speech will have a notably different tone and approach, as Miller pointed out.
According to Miller, President Trump has spent a considerable amount of time specifying the details of his speech, stating, "I want to say this and I want to delve into the following."
The Biden campaign isn't buying the Republicans' unity message.
This week, Quentin Fulks, Biden's principal deputy campaign manager, stated that Trump and Republicans consistently prioritize "big, greedy, anti-union extremists" over the interests of American workers.
Trump spoke to about 2,400 delegates and thousands of spectators at the Fiserv Arena in Milwaukee, as well as millions of Americans watching the GOP convention, just two months after being convicted of 34 felony counts in his first criminal trial.
Weeks after a poor debate performance, there are growing demands from within the Democratic Party for Biden to abandon his 2024 re-election campaign.
The assassination attempt on the weekend has led to changes in the presidential rematch.
As the convention's final day approaches, Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance acknowledged that "tonight, we cannot forget that this evening could have been much different. Instead of a day of celebration, this could have been a day of heartache and mourning."
