Trump staffer berates Allentown mayor for attempting to remove barricade before rally.
Mayor Tuerk was accused by Trump's campaign of attempting to disrupt the construction of Trump's rally.
A video that has gone viral depicts a Trump staff member verbally attacking the mayor of Allentown, Pennsylvania, for attempting to remove barriers prior to the former president's rally in the city on Tuesday evening.
TikTok videos depict Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk engaging in a heated dispute with a staff member over road closures and their potential impact on ballot drop-offs.
The mayor was accused of lying by the staffer, who noted that the city had issued a public advisory about road closures before the rally and that the campaign had received clearance from police.
"Do you believe I will remove the barricades now? You're insane if you think so," the staffer replies. "Never try that again."
Mayor Tuerk was accused by him of being afraid that people would vote for Trump if they walked around the barricade to access the ballot drop box.
"The mayor of Allentown, who is a Democrat and has been described as "Trump-deranged," attempted to disrupt the construction of President Trump's rally, even though the campaign had obtained proper permits and approved road closures. However, the rally was ultimately successful, thanks to the assistance of local law enforcement."
Mayor Tuerk stated that he visited the county government center on Monday evening to check on the staging progress and observed that the "bike rack," as referred to by Mr. Nelson, restricted access to mobility-impaired voters from casting their ballots.
Mayor Tuerk attempted to discuss the issue with the staffer, but it seems his frustration has escalated.
The Allentown police chief and supervisor were eventually resolved by the mayor.
"I'm disappointed that the Trump campaign misrepresented the interaction and that various commentators have used the opportunity to launch hateful invective at me," Tuerk said. "Allentown did its job on Tuesday. I'm proud of the city's employees who allowed anyone to vote and also allowed anyone to participate in a political event."
Trump held a packed rally at Allentown’s PPL Center Tuesday evening.
