Nikki Haley, a potential Republican primary rival of former President Trump in 2024, supports the Supreme Court's decision to hear his immunity case and believes that commanders-in-chief should not be completely immune from criminal charges.

Haley stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that the Supreme Court should address the question and provide a definitive answer, and no individual should be exempt from penalties for crimes committed, including presidents such as Clinton, Biden, and Trump.

The court, with three justices appointed by Trump, has agreed to review the former president's immunity from prosecution in the Special Counsel's federal election interference case. The court plans to expedite the matter, with arguments scheduled for the week of April 22 and a ruling expected by late June. Trump's criminal trial has been put on hold until the matter is resolved.

The Supreme Court's decision to hear the case was commended by Sen. Ron Johnson R-Wis., who stated, "This shows the significance of the issue."

Johnson stated that the delay in Trump's federal election interference case is due to the partisan nature of the prosecutions. The Supreme Court's decision to hear the appeal may push Trump's federal trial to the late summer or early fall, close to the November presidential election.

He stated that they were interfering in elections to a greater extent than Russia or China ever could.

The senator expressed optimism that the court's decision indicated some opposition to "election interference," but added, "We'll wait and see what the Supreme Court decides."

Meanwhile, Trump's opponents criticized the Supreme Court for agreeing to hear the case.

Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., stated that the court's decision places it on trial and questioned whether the justices will uphold the fundamental American value that no one is above the law, not even a former president.

Liz Cheney, a former Republican congresswoman from Wyoming, criticized the court's decision to review Trump's claim of presidential immunity. "Postponing the January 6 trial will prevent crucial evidence from being heard by Americans," she wrote on X.

SCOTUS must decide promptly whether to allow Donald Trump to be tried by our justice system before the next election, as he attempted to overturn an election and seize power.

Harriet Hageman, a Republican from Wyoming, defeated Cheney in her reelection bid for the House of Representatives.

Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., predicted that the Supreme Court taking up the case of Trump's second impeachment trial could help ensure a "blue wave" in November.

"If the SCOTUS trial is delayed until after November, the largest blue wave in history will occur, according to Lieu. If November becomes a referendum on Trump's justice, Democrats will flip the House, keep the White House, and expand the Senate."

Rep. Brendan Boyle, D-Pa., stated on social media that the Supreme Court decision will aid Donald Trump in evading justice by running out the clock.
