Trump has named New York businessman Steven Witkoff as his Special Envoy to the Middle East.
In 1977, Witkoff founded the Witkoff Group, which he currently runs as a real estate investor and landlord.
In his statement, Trump declared Witkoff as a "determined advocate for tranquility" in the volatile area.
"On Tuesday evening, an announcement was made that Steve is a highly respected leader in business and philanthropy, who has made every project and community he has been involved with stronger and more prosperous. Steve will be an unrelenting voice for peace and make us all proud."
