Trump's sarcastic sympathy for AOC's failed House leadership bid: "You know it's bad"
Earlier, the New York Democrat stated that she exerted her utmost effort to secure the leadership position.
On Wednesday, President-elect Trump expressed disappointment that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was not chosen for a leadership role on a House committee, prompting a humorous reaction from the liberal congresswoman.
"Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday, "It's too bad AOC lost the leadership seat in the Democrat Party. She should keep trying and one day she will succeed!""
The New York congresswoman took a screenshot of Trump's comments and wrote a humorous response.
"Even Trump is feeling bad for me," Ocasio-Cortez said with a laughing emoji.
The day after her unsuccessful bid for the top Democrat position on the House Oversight Committee, Ocasio-Cortez engaged in a comical exchange.
"I am grateful to my colleagues for their support and trust in me to lead the House Democrats on the Oversight Committee," Connolly stated after being elected by the caucus.
"Our Committee Democrats will be a beacon of truth and prepared from day one to counter Republican gaslighting," he added. "Now is not the time to be timid."
Ocasio-Cortez, who has been on the oversight committee since 2023, wrote on Bluesky that she "did my best" with my bid.
"I did my utmost, but I couldn't succeed. We'll have another chance to try again," she wrote.
