Trump's House GOP allies propose bill to allow Greenland's acquisition.
Rep Andy Ogles, the bill's leader, states that American economic and security interests will no longer be neglected.
President-elect Trump's GOP allies in the House are preparing for him to fulfill his promise to obtain Greenland.
Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., is proposing legislation to allow Trump to engage in talks with Denmark about acquiring Greenland, a region with strong cultural and geopolitical connections to Europe despite being situated in North America.
According to a copy of its text obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital, the bill is titled the "Make Greenland Great Again Act."
Ogles stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that President Trump is already making it clear that America First is back, and he is taking a blowtorch to Joe Biden's reputation. House Republicans are ready to assist Trump in delivering for the American people, and they will no longer prioritize economic and security interests.
The sitting president can have talks with Denmark at noon on Jan. 20, the day of Trump's swearing-in.
The President must transmit the agreement with Denmark regarding the acquisition of Greenland by the United States, along with any related materials and annexes, within 5 days of reaching the agreement.
The power of the purse lies with Congress, which means the executive branch must obtain approval from the House of Representatives and the Senate before making any purchases for the federal government.
The bill of Ogles is supported by 10 fellow House Republicans, including Reps. Mike Lawler, Diana Harshbarger, Michael Rulli, Dan Crenshaw, Anna Paulina Luna, Claudia Tenney, Neal Dunn, Barry Moore, Randy Weber, and Brian Babin.
In his first term in the White House, Trump initially proposed the idea of acquiring Greenland, but in recent weeks he has intensified his public comments about the topic, as well as other entities such as the Panama Canal.
Trump stated last week that he wouldn't rule out using either force or coercion. When asked if he would rule out employing economic or military pressure, he replied, "No, I can't guarantee it on either of those two."
The notion of purchasing Greenland has gained momentum among Trump's Republican allies, with proponents emphasizing its proximity to Russia, a key U.S. rival.
Ogles argued it was "essential to our national security."
Last week, Donald Trump Jr., the president-elect's son, toured Greenland for a personal visit.
The latest move by a House Republican to aid Trump in achieving his foreign policy objectives is through Ogles' introduction.
Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., introduced a bill last week that would allow Trump to purchase the Panama Canal for a nominal price of $1.
That bill nabbed more than a dozen Republican co-sponsors.
