Trump's FBI nominee Kash Patel receives support from GOP attorneys general, who urge senators to follow suit.
President-elect Trump has selected Kash Patel to lead the FBI in his next administration, and dozens of Republican state attorneys general are supporting him.
The 24 Republican attorneys general wrote a letter to Senators John Thune and Chuck Schumer, urging them to support Patel as the next FBI director.
The FBI requires a skilled, capable, and reform-minded leader, and Kash Patel is the ideal candidate for the position. The FBI has a long history of producing exceptional investigators, but their leadership has fallen short, failing both the agents and the country. Mr. Patel is the ideal candidate to lead the FBI towards a brighter future.
The following states have signed onto a letter to the U.S. Supreme Court urging it to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. The states include Iowa, Alabama, Indiana, Alaska, Kansas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, Missouri, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Tennessee, North Dakota, Texas, Ohio, Utah, Oklahoma, Virginia, South Carolina, West Virginia, and South Dakota.
"As attorneys general, we have weighed in on past nominees for the United States Department of Justice positions and have taken the rule of law seriously. We are also chief law enforcement officers in our respective states and partner with the federal government and FBI to ensure justice is done. The FBI's operations are important to us, and we take the selection of its director seriously."
Neither Thune nor Schumer immediately provided comment to Planet Chronicle Digital.
The FBI's leadership has lost the trust of Americans due to years of scandal and baseless investigations into President Trump. Instead of focusing on investigating crime and domestic threats, the FBI is fixated on investigating the President. It is imperative for a new leader to steer the FBI back to its core mission.
FBI Director Christopher Wray announced his resignation ahead of the Trump administration, and the letter was sent to Thune and Schumer just over an hour before the announcement.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to remain in my position as Director of the FBI until the end of the current administration in January and then step down. My objective is to maintain the Bureau's focus on its mission, which is vital to the American people. By doing so, I believe we can avoid becoming embroiled in political controversies while upholding the values and principles that guide our work."
The urgency to confirm Patel is intensified by Trump's decision to leave at the end of President Biden's term.
Patel has been meeting with Republican senators on Capitol Hill to gain support.
