Trump receives blunt message from Danish prime minister: Greenland is not for sale.
Greenland is not for sale to the US, according to Denmark's prime minister.
Mette Frederiksen, the Danish Prime Minister, reiterated that Greenland is not up for sale, in response to President-elect Trump's increased demands for the US to purchase the island.
On Tuesday, Trump Jr. visited Greenland for a personal trip and did not plan to meet with any government officials.
The Danish prime minister stated in an interview that Greenlandic Prime Minister Múte Egede has emphasized that the people of Greenland strongly support the idea that Greenland should not be sold and will remain independent in the future, as reported by The Hill.
According to reports, she informed Danish television station TV 2 that Greenland will decide its own fate and stated, "It's crucial that we remain composed and adhere to our values," while commending the U.S. as a vital Danish ally.
On Monday, Trump posted on Truth Social that he had heard that the people of Greenland were "MAGA." He also shared a video that supposedly showed a Greenlander requesting the US to buy his country.
On Tuesday, the president-elect's son arrived in Nuuk, the capital of the Arctic territory. He met with locals, explored cultural sites, and recorded video for a podcast. The president-elect posted a video on social media showing a plane with the word "TRUMP" landing in Nuuk.
"Greenland is in need of safety, security, strength, and peace, and my Reps and Don Jr. have landed there. This deal must happen for the Free World, and together we can make Greenland great again. MAGA!"
Trump also spoke with locals over speakerphone in video that supporters shared online.
On Monday, a source informed Planet Chronicle Digital that Trump Jr. planned a brief visit to shoot video content for his podcast. He would not be engaging with any government officials or political figures during his trip.
Previously, Trump has expressed interest in purchasing the territory from Denmark, citing it as crucial to the United States' national security.
During a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Tuesday afternoon, Trump reiterated his demand for Denmark to relinquish its claim to Greenland.
