Trump is appointing his Cabinet at a faster pace than in 2016.
Trump appointed Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., as his national security adviser.
Trump has swiftly begun appointing potential members to his cabinet, naming key figures prior to his 2016 election victory.
Since winning the election, Trump has appointed six Cabinet members, including Rep. Mike Waltz as his national security adviser.
Trump announced on Truth Social Tuesday that Mike, the first Green Beret to be elected to Congress, had previously served in the White House and Pentagon. Mike served in the Army Special Forces for 27 years, where he was deployed multiple times in combat and received four Bronze Stars, including two with Valor.
The announcement for Waltz was made a week before Election Day, while Trump appointed Flynn to the same position 10 days after the election in 2016.
Trump has announced his pick for the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Rep. Elise Stefanik, nearly two weeks earlier than his 2016 announcement of then-Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina. Haley later ran unsuccessfully for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024.
Elise Stefanik has been nominated by Trump to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Trump praised her as a strong, tough, and smart America First fighter in a statement following the pick.
Trump stated on Truth Social two days ago that he would not be inviting Haley to join the new administration, despite expressing his enjoyment and appreciation for working with her.
On Nov. 11, former New York Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin was announced as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, a position that Trump had not previously filled until Dec. 7, 2016, when he appointed Scott Pruitt.
"Trump stated that Zeldin will establish new environmental standards for review and maintenance, allowing the US to grow in a healthy and well-structured manner while ensuring fair and swift deregulatory decisions that will unleash the power of American businesses while maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet."
In the 2022 New York governor election, Zeldin ran against Democratic incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul and lost, but received praise from Republicans for his valiant effort that helped Republicans in the midterms.
"Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., acknowledged that Lee Zeldin likely played a crucial role in preserving the House's Republican majority by securing the election of four new Republican congressmen in a Nov. 14, 2022 Facebook post, expressing gratitude for his efforts."
In 2016, Trump announced his choice of Reince Priebus for chief of staff five days after his victory at the polls.
Susie is a tough, smart, innovative individual who is universally admired and respected. Trump praised her selection as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history, stating that it is a well-deserved honor. He expressed confidence that she will make the country proud as she continues to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again.
Stephen Miller, a longtime Trump adviser, will join the administration as deputy chief of staff for policy, while Tom Homan, a former Immigration and Customs Enforcement director, will serve as the "border czar" and has previously worked under six administrations and for presidents of both parties, including Ronald Reagan.
Trump praised Tom Homan, who was previously the executive associate director of enforcement and removal operations for ICE under Obama, for his expertise in policing and controlling borders. He also expressed confidence that Homan would excel in his new role as head of deportation for illegal aliens.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is being considered for the role of secretary of state, while North Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is being considered for the position of head of the Department of Homeland Security, although Trump has not yet made either choice official.
