There’s really no other choice but to let Trump be Trump.

Kamala Harris electrified the DNC with a surprise speech, while Donald Trump persisted in criticizing his new adversary in unusual manners.

Lindsey Graham, a close Republican ally, is being ignored by him despite public advice.

Nikki Haley, who only nominally endorsed Trump, conveyed a similar message to Fox's Bret Baier: "The campaign won't succeed by discussing crowd sizes, Kamala Harris' race, or her intelligence. Instead, the campaign should concentrate."

Biden, the man he really wanted to run against, was pushed out of prime time to deliver a speech that mainly touted his own accomplishments and attacked Trump.

Despite being considered smart, why was I elected president?

In 2016, it was widely believed that Hillary Clinton would win the election, including by Trump himself. This may have contributed to her taunting him at the Chicago convention, where she smiled and enjoyed the chants of "Lock him up!" from the crowd, a reference to Trump's own supporters calling for her to be imprisoned.

During a post-2008 campaign meeting, Obama felt the need to remind McCain of his defeat in the election.

Trump, while expanding his operation, is relying on his instincts by bringing in his first campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, and other past loyalists.

The 45th president's unusual move was to use AI to post images of women wearing "Swifties for Trump" T-shirts, even though the women were not real. This occurred a week after Trump, who appeared to be fond of Taylor Swift, falsely claimed that Harris had used AI to create a large crowd at the Detroit airport, which was later proven false by wider shots of the thousands of people present.

Perhaps the image of Trump and Harris as a couple, with him touching her pregnant belly, is just a fake.

The video Trump posted on Truth Social is more concerning. It starts with a fake image of Harris holding a sign that says "I am a moron." In a parody version of the Alanis Morissette song "Ironic," Trump accuses Biden of having dementia and claims Harris was "pulling the strings to cut his rope."

But that’s the mild part.

"Falsify the ballots on election day; the outcome doesn't matter, it's all about taking control. Spent her entire life kneeling down; to become the commander in chief, that's how you ask for it."

It is widely recognized that "on her knees" is a clear sexual reference. This phrase alludes to Kamala Harris's relationship with Willie Brown, who she openly dated in the 1990s, despite being technically still married but separated from his wife. Brown appointed Harris to two state boards.

Trump typically has a gut instinct for an opponent's vulnerabilities. Perhaps he believes that mockery is the most effective way to handle a woman of color. Despite the lack of impact of his attacks, Trump is correct that he won the election. Everyone else is either part of his team or an onlooker.

The Trump campaign yesterday defended against Harris' assertion that crime was higher during his administration, arguing that a 2021 change in the FBI's methodology for estimating crime statistics made the comparison invalid. Independent reporting corroborates this claim.

As I wrote yesterday, the election is unlikely to be significantly influenced by complex discussions about immigration figures or price hikes. On Kamala's website, there is no record of her policy proposals, which she may later regret.

Harris has not yet provided an explanation for her shift from far-left positions in 2020, such as abolishing private health insurance and banning fracking, and must confront this issue directly rather than relying on unnamed aides.

She hopes to ride a wave of excitement, boosted by the star-studded DNC, to a seat behind the Resolute Desk. She is running as a 59-year old happy warrior against Trump, who is now the old man in the race at 78. However, her polling numbers will eventually deflate to earlier levels, and she will have to withstand a furious two-month attack by Trump and MAGA World.

The Trump campaign criticized the first night of the Democratic convention, arguing that the focus should have been on the issues facing the country rather than discussing President Trump.

The mentions on Monday night:

Trump: 147 times

Border: 8 times

Economy: 27 times

Inflation: 3 times

Prices: 5 times

Crime: 6 times.

The Harris camp criticized her opponent's remarks at a Pennsylvania rally, where he commented on Trump's advisors trying to keep him on script but failing as he ranted about his relationship with JD Vance, the American dream being dead, and other unrelated topics, including Russian ships appearing in New England waters.

The press corps is hostile towards Trump and is enamored of Kamala-mentum. Pundits argue that he poses a threat to democracy. I haven't witnessed such imbalanced coverage since the Clinton-Gore bus tour of 1992.

Journalists have largely ignored the fact that Harris and Walz have declined interviews, treating it as if it's not their duty to do so.

Biden was anticipating delivering his acceptance speech in Chicago a month ago, but instead, he finished late at 12:30 a.m. ET due to excuses about too much applause, showing how rapidly politics can shift.

Some media critics are claiming that Trump's appeal has waned, as what was once exciting and challenging in 2016 now seems repetitive and predictable. However, it is important to note that Trump's victory in that year was not solely based on his stance on immigration and crime, but rather his anti-establishment persona, which is similar to the charge being leveled against Kamala.

The belief that Trump would easily win, following the unsuccessful assassination attempt, has been replaced by the media consensus that Harris is riding a cultural tide that will overwhelm him.

Despite the negative stuff dumped on him, including a criminal conviction, Trump still has the easier path to the magic 270 in the battleground states.

Trump will eventually find a way to undermine Harris, even if it requires trying multiple strategies until one succeeds. This is how he typically operates.
