Trump defends himself, attacks lawyers during press conference following E Jean Carroll trial.
In New York City, former President Donald Trump expressed his disappointment in his legal abilities.
On Friday, former President Donald Trump conducted an almost hour-long press conference, asserting his innocence in all the charges against him and briefly disparaging his legal team, who were standing behind him.
Trump accused the DOJ of working with officials prosecuting him in many cases, specifically in his three separate cases in New York and the Georgia elections probe being conducted by Fani Willis.
The former president and 2024 Republican nominee is in his hometown to challenge a jury's verdict in writer E. Jean Carroll's civil case, which found Trump guilty of sexual abuse and defamation, and imposed a $5 million penalty.
"Trump stated that the case involving a former President of the United States who is currently leading in polls to become president again is particularly disgraceful. He added that the case is being worked with the DOJ, Department of Justice, as are all other cases."
"The Department of Justice has been involved in several high-profile cases, including the overturned case of Judge Engoron in New York and the Manhattan District Attorney's investigation. However, the DOJ's involvement in these cases raises concerns about the integrity of the justice system."
He accused judges of being partial and blocking certain evidence in his trials.
Trump stated that despite possessing legal talent, it is challenging to overcome biased judges in Democratic strongholds, where the Republican vote is only 4%.
He stated, "I'm disappointed in my legal talent, but I must admit, they're good people and talented lawyers."
Since leaving office, Trump has consistently maintained his innocence in all civil and criminal investigations against him.
Trump was in New York for a decision from Judge Juan Merchan on whether to delay sentencing in his criminal trial about hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election. Earlier this year, a jury convicted him on 34 counts linked to falsifying business records.
Trump's lawyers successfully petitioned for a delay in the sentencing of the individual scheduled for Sept. 18 until after the November election.
Trump praised Florida federal Judge Aileen Cannon for her handling of the classified documents case while criticizing judges in other cases.
"I believe she is an exceptional woman. She skillfully dealt with a fraud. This is a fraud case," Trump stated. "We emerged victorious in that trial."
