President-elect Donald Trump announced the Gulf of Mexico is getting a new name.
"On Tuesday, Trump announced that the Gulf of Mexico would be renamed the Gulf of America, a name he deemed fitting and beautiful."
Trump announced that DAMAC Properties will invest $20 billion in new data centers across the country during his first press conference since Congress certified his election win over Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday. He also previewed a range of policy issues ahead of his inauguration this month.
The Gulf of Mexico is a partially-enclosed sea that lies along the coasts of several states, including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida, as well as Mexico.
Trump did not reveal his plan for renaming the body of water, but instead criticized Mexico for the immigration problems in the U.S. under the Biden administration.
"Mexico must stop allowing millions of people to enter our country. They can do it. And we will impose significant tariffs on Mexico and Canada because drugs are entering through Canada at record levels. We will make up for this by imposing tariffs on Mexico and Canada," he stated.
Trump's statement about expanding U.S. land territories is his latest comment on the matter.
Trump's son and allies visited Greenland this week after Trump repeatedly urged the U.S. to acquire the autonomous territory from Denmark.
Donald Trump Jr. is looking forward to visiting Greenland for some fun during his travels as an outdoorsman, as he has explored many exciting destinations around the world.
According to a source close to Planet Chronicle Digital, Trump Jr. is visiting Greenland for a brief day trip to create video content for his podcast. It was previously reported that he would not be meeting with government officials during his stay.
